AIDG Role

Development and partnerships

AIDG's proposed role is to support project preparation, technical and financial structuring, and the mobilization of qualified investors and implementation partners.

Ownership & Status

Project arrangements

Public-interest initiative belonging to the relevant Burundian authorities. AIDG is a proposed development and structuring partner, not the project owner or public authority.

Participation would support preparation and structuring of a public-interest initiative. The proposed AIDG role does not establish ownership, a construction mandate, or a financing commitment. Approval and implementation arrangements are not confirmed.

Project Overview

Proposed road upgrades in northern Burundi to strengthen regional trade, passenger travel, freight movement, and access to markets.

Strategic Importance

The corridor would connect Gasenyi, Gatare, Nyagisozi, Kabanga, Bwambarangwe, Mukenke, Butihinda, and Kobero. Improved links aim to help agricultural communities reach markets and facilitate cross-border trade.

Investment Rationale

Project preparation would examine the technical and financial structure needed to advance a regional transport link serving communities and commerce.
